Is it possible to learn something about the nature of emotions in general, or about the nature of the particular emotions in your list, by knowing how people experience them?

Ask 10 peers (colleagues, friends or family) to describe (in details) an emotion they are familiar with. Each person you ask must provide at least 75 words (one lengthy paragraph). You can ask them to tell you what the emotion feels like to them, or what it means to them.

Have each person you ask pick an emotion not already on your list, so you don’t get any repetition. Hand in the assignment as a list. It should contain the original formulations.

Lastly, discuss the responses you got. Is it possible to learn something about the nature of emotions in general, or about the nature of the particular emotions in your list, by knowing how people experience them? And, do the answers you got fit in with one or more of the theories discussed in the book? Elaborate on your answers (don’t simply write “yes” or “no”; explain your point
