Your organization wants to develop an application to manage its products and orders, and expects your team to develop the database right away. However, your team understands that it is necessary to consider several factors to design a database properly, as each organization has specific business rules that must be applied to a database.
The organization currently sells one-of-a-kind creations from individuals who also sell the items at trade shows. They maintain a small network to track sellers, products, and trade shows. A product is created by a particular seller, and then that product is put up for sale at a trade show. The trade show can include many different products, but a product can only be sold at a single trade show at a time. Similarly, a product is created by a single seller, but the seller can create multiple products.
Create a 10–15-slide PowerPoint presentation to explain to your organization the importance of considering these business rules prior to creating the database, by covering the following:
Introduce the concept of tables (data entities) that consist of fields of data.
List the tables you anticipate for the company and their corresponding fields. Ideally, include an entity-relationship diagram (ERD).
- Define and discuss the concept of business rules. Provide two or three appropriate sample business rules.
- Recommend a database technology, such as MySQL or Microsoft SQL, and justify why.
- Briefly recommend a data backup and disaster-recovery solution.
