Write an (approximately) 800 word review on it, based on your personal understanding of the film. Obviously, your own opinions/perceptions are paramount for this assignment, though you may briefly cite one or two additional sources, if appropriate. You may include anything you feel relevant in your review, but normally, one would expect to cover such areas as:-
plot structure (storyline)
genre category
character delineation
narrative approach
cinematographic style
Include film title, director, and year of release!
Do not spend too much time re-telling the story. Most marks will be given for in-depth analysis. Including relevant details, however small, that have previously not been noted by others will also earn you extra marks (it shows you have watched the film carefully!). Where you can, try to include information or approaches that you have become familiar with during this course.
By all means, read through other reviews written on the same film, but do not be influenced too much by other people’s responses. (I would actually recommend that you read reviews on other films instead, so you get some ideas about what a good review might include, but not on the film you intend to review, otherwise, the temptation to pattern your review on those of others may be too strong.)
The review will be putting all reviews through an electronic checking system, so please do not be tempted to plagiarise (or close paraphrase) from other posted reviews, including from Chinese websites.
