you will obtain a weekly article from The Wall Street Journal or other business and economic periodical that relates to the economic topic(s) to be covered in the workshops. You should consider your research paper as you complete the article analysis in each workshop. It would be wise to keep the research topic in mind when selecting articles for review.

You should note the distinction between a mere “summary” of an article, and an article “analysis.” This assignment requires analysis, which differs from a simple article summary in that you will be expected to relate specific article topics to concepts addressed in the textbook reading (i.e., supply and demand, marginal utility, comparative advantage, elasticity, production and costs, and the like). Additionally, analysis means critical thinking.  Be prepared to assess the accuracy of the article in comparison to concepts learned in the textbook readings, and must provide a critical evaluation of the article from the point of view of the “economic way of thinking.” A mere summary of the article or its thesis simply will not suffice. Through analysis, critical thinking should be demonstrated.
